Maskne 2.0?

Back-to-school means back to masks this year so as we start to move towards Fall and more time indoors, now is a great time to evaluate your family's mask-wearing skincare routine.

Several months ago before school went out for the summer, my 10-year old daughter started to develop some skin dryness, redness and irritation around her nose. When we started to see this evolve, we began adding in serums at night. While the crustiness decreased, the red and bumpy spots didn’t. A visit to the pediatrician revealed that this was a typical condition for all-day mask wearing kids - 'maskne'. We ended up adding in an antibacterial cream for a day and it was completely resolved!  From there, we used our Activated Charcoal Soap daily, followed by our Renewed Radiance Face Oil for the rest of the school year and didn’t have the issue happen again.

According to the pediatrician, it was the combination of the moist air and normal impurities that find their way into children’s nose areas had been creating this bacterial rash that was cropping up repeatively with children in our area. This is likely to begin again as more and more kids return to all-day mask routines. There has never been a better time to introduce our children to a daily skincare routine that they can carry with them into the teen and adult years.
